About Me
My name is Anne Giblin.
I am an Associate of AGRA (Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives).
I have been researching my family for many years. I began my research in my early teens. My father sparked my interest and we learned together in those early years. I continue with my research of my family. I volunteer at a local family history centre, helping others with their research. I also index records on a regular, voluntary basis.
As I live in Shropshire, I have easy access to local Shropshire records which are not online, which are located at the Shropshire Archives, and in local libraries.
I also research other parts of the country as requested. My particular areas of interest are Birmingham and the Black Country, Hallamshire (South Yorkshire) and the West Riding of Yorkshire.
Charges
I charge an hourly rate of £20, or you could purchase one of my packages as detailed below. If these packages do not suit your requirements, or you have a limited budget, I am happy to tailor my research to your specific needs, at my hourly rate, plus any costs; for example, the cost of birth, marriage or death certificates, or travel costs to nearby archives. I will perform an initial 1 hour search for free, to ascertain whether sufficient information is available.
If your ancestors are local to me, for a small charge, there is the possibility that I could photograph churches, grave stones/monuments or local landmarks.
I require a 50% deposit before undertaking any of my research packages, which is non-refundable.
If I cannot help with your research, I will inform you at the earliest opportunity.
Twiglet
- This package will go back from the designated root person and will go back 3 generations (inclusive of the root person), so includes 2 parents and 4 grandparents (inclusive of any 3 certificates).
Branch
- As before the package includes the root person, but will include 4 generations, altogether; so will encompass 2 parents, 4 grandparents and 8 great grandparents (inclusive of any 4 certificates).
Tree
- This package is inclusive of the root person and encompasses 5 generations, so will include 2 parents; 4 grandparents; 8 great grandparents and 16 great, great grandparents (inclusive of any 5 certificates).
Once I have completed my research, I will produce a full research report and family tree diagrams showing your ancestors.
As part of my report I will identify family members, where they lived and their occupation, if available, and any other relevant details.
I will include transcripts of parish registers and census returns where appropriate, along with transcriptions of any other relevant documents; for example, wills, probate registers, criminal records, apprenticeship records, and electoral rolls.
Liability
Historical records, found in archives and private collections, form a rich source of information. However, such documents must be treated with caution as some original records may be missing, others may contain inaccuracies or be difficult to read because of handwriting and fugitive ink, and spellings of names and places may be infinitely variable. Recordings may be inaccurate because our ancestors were not entirely truthful, or the recorder misheard/misunderstood.
Whilst I make every effort to verify my research from original documents, the accuracy of what I find cannot be guaranteed where evidence is unreliable or contradictory.
Any inaccuracies found due to errors on my part, quickly identified, will be corrected, and documentation revised at no extra cost. However, any errors or omissions resulting from inaccuracies in information, provided by the client, will be corrected and reprinted for an additional fee.
